Why is Solar Panel Cleaning so Important

You have invested in Solar, your solar panels energy production depends on the intensity of sunlight that can reach your solar panel cells

Over a relatively short period of time, an accumulation of airborne pollutants, dust particles, algae, lichen, salt spray and bird droppings can contribute to a build up of dirt on your solar panels.

This build up of dirt will significantly prevent your system from operating at its full energy producing capacity, by losing as much as 20%, if not more, depending on the severity of dirt on your solar panel array.

With the ever rising energy costs prevalent now more than ever, Solar Shine want to help you to achieve optimum electricity production, which in turn will help you save money and protect your solar panels lifespan.

Dirty Solar Panels

  • Reduce your systems performance
  • Can affect your warranty
  • Can create hot sports
  • Lose efficiency and decrease your panels lifespan
Clean Solar Panels

  • Save you money
  • Optimise your electricity production
  • Keeps your investment safe
  • Increase the lifespan of your solar panels
Rain water does NOT clean your Solar Panels

One of the biggest misconceptions in relation to the cleaning of your solar panels is that rain will be enough to clean your solar panels.

This is simply, not the case, yes, the rain will rinse your panels of possibly very new and loose soiling’s such as a few fallen leaves, but not a lot else.

If pollutants, dust, bird droppings etc, have had a chance to settle on your panels, rain will simply not be enough.

A comparison, commonly used to illustrate this, would be to look at your car windscreen. If your windscreen becomes soiled by pollutants or bird droppings, you use your screen wash and wipers to try and clean your screen to regain your vision of the road ahead, often your wipers will even struggle to remove these pollutants or bird droppings and your wipers will leave a large area uncleansed.

Your Solar panels are affected in the same way.

Looking at that same scenario, the area that the wipers have left uncleansed, this represents the shaded area on your solar panels.

This shaded area, puts your solar panel at a huge risk of Hot Spots occurring, please look at our hot spots section to find out more.

Why We Use DI/RO Water For Solar Panel Cleaning?

At Solar Shine we only use professional solar panel cleaning equipment and at the forefront of that we use only the purest deionised water system (or pure water cleaning system) to clean your Solar Panels. You should never use normal tap water to clean your Solar Panels as this will result in residue, spots, and stains left behind on your solar panels surface, which will dramatically lower your energy intake and also poses a safety risk due to the formation of Hot spots.

Our DI system is a filtration system removes nearly all elements other than hydrogen and oxygen that form the water molecule.
Since there are no minerals in deionised water, it leaves behind no residue, spots, or stains on surfaces, which makes it the ultimate surface cleaning system, and since deionised water is deprived of ions and minerals, it’s eager to regain them by absorbing them from surrounding sources.

It is therefore one of the most efficient absorbers of dirt and surface pollutants that collects on surfaces and removes these impurity’s quicker to leave you with a sparkling clean finish, and most importantly, as there are no mineral deposits left on the Solar Panels, you are reducing the occurrence of Hot spots.
